'Hunting' icebuckets by W.M.F., c 1910s
WMF (Wurtemmbergische Metallen Fabrik): a rare Champagne bucket of large proportions with a hunting theme, the base and rim with continuous friezes of hunting dogs and their prey including deer, wild boar, stag hare, the handles in the form of antlers, with removable inner bucket, silver plated pewter. German c.1910.

WMF (Wurtemmbergische Metallen Fabrik): a very rare & large Champagne bucket with a hunting theme, the rim and the base decorated with friezes of hunting dogs and their prey (wild boar, stag and hare), the handles in the form of antlers, with WMF makers marks the base. German, c1910.

Additional Notes: WMF in Geistlingen/Steige was founded in 1880 by a Merger of the two Companies Straub & Sohn and A. Ritter & Co. They soon became famous for extremly innovative and stylish JUGENDSTIL metalworks made of brass, copper & silver plate. Growing very fast WMF acquired quite a few further companies such as AK & CIE (Albert Köhler und Cie), Orivit AG from Cologne and the ORION Kunstgewerbliche Metallwarenfabrik.Many famous artists and designers worked for WMF: Hans Peter, Albert Meyer, Rudolf Meyer, Herman Obrist, Albin Müller and last but not least also Peter Behrens.
