'Steamer' bag by Louis Vuitton, 1900

A very rare early 'steamer' bag in plain brown canvas with leather trim, complete with original Vuitton padlock and key, French. 1900.

Length: 26 inches (66 cms).


Additional Note: This is the very rare, original version of Vuitton's 'Steamer' bag, which remains in production to this day. Modelled on the original 19th century U.S mailbag, only the first few examples were made in the canvas (as is this one), the design changing to the LV 'Monogramme' in 1904. Only the second example we have handled in 30 years.
