‘Ranelagh War Cup’ by Messrs Garrard, 1920
A gilded trophy with cover, presented to the Cavalry Corps in 1920, with applied Roman numerals(MCMXIX), and inscribed:
Major F B Hurndall
Brig. Gen. J. Vaughan
Major V. N. Lockett
Lt. Col. G. Mort (back).
The lid with ornate finial, of a pair of legs wearing a suit of armour, lifting off to reveal an applied circular ‘seal’ to the centre of the bowl, with a ‘H’ to the centre with Lion above, bearing legend around the outside ‘Le Passe Ne Meurt Jamais’ (the password never dies) and bearing hallmarks and inscribed makers marks, to the inside of the rim of the base ‘Hand made by Messrs Garrard and Co. Ltd London, Goldsmiths to the Crown’.

Diameter of bowl: 7 inches (18 cms).
