The Ferrari Paintings of Dexter Brown
Welcome to 'Superfast', the first exhibition exclusively devoted to Dexter Brown's Ferrari Paintings.
My association with Dexter goes back to the early 1980s and during the intervening quarter century, I have had the pleasure of commissioning some extraordinary paintings, now dispersed around the world. The exhibition, however, is the first time that such a wide variety of Dexter's work has been available for his many fans to enjoy.
Assembled over a three year period, the Ferrari paintings shown in 'Superfast' affirm Dexter's status as the most admired automotive artist, and a crowning achievement in a career dating back to the early 1960s. Most of the paintings in the exhibition have therefore not been seen before, and we have managed to supplement their number with several early works from the late 1960s and 1970s.
The majority of the exhibits are also featured in my new book 'Superfast - The Ferrari Paintings of Dexter Brown', which chronicles his Ferrari oeuvre since the start of his professional career in the early 1960s. The book has been published in a limited edition to coincide with this landmark exhibition.
'Superfast' is a testament to Dexter Brown's immense contribution to the automobile art genre over five decades. His painterly tribute to Ferrari is a defining record of Il Commendatore's manufacturing origins in a post-war Italy, unequalled competition success on road and track, and fittingly, triumph in the Formula One arena in 2007, Ferrari's 60th anniversary year.
I am delighted to have the opportunity to make 'Superfast' available to a wider audience and to share my passion for the genius of Dexter Brown and, of course, Enzo Ferrari.
